Programme for The Great River Race held on the 7th September 1996, starting at Ham House and finishing at Island Gardens in London.
The idea of the race is to find the UK traditional champions. Winners receive the Challenge Trophy of The Company of Watermen and Lightermen of the River Thames- a mounted Waterman's badge issued to William Savage of Gravesend in 1803.
