Three letters from Elspeth Grahame, wife of Kenneth Grahame; author of Wind in the Willows.
All three were written after the death of Kenneth Grahame in 1932, to Mr Barnard who played 'Rat' in a production of Wind in the Willows.
Also a copy of a poem 'Vale Atque Ave!' by Algol, written in memory of Kenneth Grahame, published in The Evening News on July 8th 1932 and addressed to 'Rat'.
The letters are dated 20th July 1932, 21st December 1932 and 19th June 1933.

The biggest splash - Art and the Thames
Article from the Guardian Weekend magazine (February 13, 1999) on artists and paintings of the Thames, particularly of the river in London. Includes prints of paintings by Turner, Tissot, Julian Trevelyan ("Henley Regatta", 1978, full-page print), Constable, Ruskin Spear, Canaletto and others.
The magazine cutting also includes a two-page advertisement for the Renault Espace Alize car, based on the Wind of the Willows illustrations by E.H. Shepard and showing the book's characters inspecting the car outside Toad Hall.
