Cigarette card titled 'England, Rowing' showing in a coloured painterely style, a bow-on quarter view of two eights racing with a cityscape in the background. In th eright hand bottom ciorner is the Royal standard. On the reverse the heading 'Capstan Navy Cut' and further information on the manufacturer and the cigarettes. At the bottom 'Sports of all nations'. From the Sports of all Nations series, No. 17/50 showing Oxford and Cambridge eights racing. Circa 1901.
Part of the Thomas E. Weil Collection. Thomas E. Weil is a very knowledgeable and respected collector of rowing memorabilia from all over the world. His extensive collection includes material from many years of the Oxford and Cambridge University Boat Race, and Henley Royal Regatta. He also lectures and writes on rowing history and is a Trustee of the River and Rowing Museum.
