Cigarette card titled 'T.G Askwith' showing, in coloured litho on card, Askwith standing holding a pair of sculls with the enclosures visible across the river. On the reverse in red the heading 'Champions - A series of 48 - No.48 ' with the heading 'T.G. Askwith' underneath text how he was in the British Olympic eight in 1932, rowed for Cambridge in 1932 and 1933, and won the 1933 Diamonds. At the bottom 'Park Drive Cigarettes - Gallaher Ltd., London and Belfast'.
Note there is a duplicate card which appears to be identical and second almost identical apart from the absence of the name Askwith on the obverse.
Part of the Thomas E. Weil Collection. Thomas E. Weil is a very knowledgeable and respected collector of rowing memorabilia from all over the world. His extensive collection includes material from many years of the Oxford and Cambridge University Boat Race, and Henley Royal Regatta. He also lectures and writes on rowing history and is a Trustee of the River and Rowing Museum.
