Cigarette card untitled showing, in coloured litho on card, the head and shoulders of E.A.Phelps in a blue jacket with red and gold tie and a dark red scarf. On the reverse the heading 'Celebrities of Sport - A Series of 50 - No. 41' with the heading 'E.A.Phelps' and underneath text describing how 'Teddy' Phelps won Doggetts in 1930, and later beat Barry for the world sculling championship; his brothers Eric and Edwin later won Doggetts, the latter in 1938, the tenth member of the family to do so. At the bottom 'Issued by R&J Hill, Ltd, London.'
Part of the Thomas E. Weil Collection. Thomas E. Weil is a very knowledgeable and respected collector of rowing memorabilia from all over the world. His extensive collection includes material from many years of the Oxford and Cambridge University Boat Race, and Henley Royal Regatta. He also lectures and writes on rowing history and is a Trustee of the River and Rowing Museum.
