Apprentices Regatta badge, 1863

Sterling silver oval badge mounted on a wooden shield with stand, inscribed "Apprentices Regatta won by Sydney G. Murray," quartered shield, and panel below inscribed "Given by the inhabitants of Middle and Inner Temple St. Dunstan in the West, St. Clement Danes & St. Mary Le Strand, August 31st, 1863, W.H. Campbell, I.W. Audsley, Managers, John Child, Treasurer,".

Part of the Thomas E. Weil Collection. Thomas E. Weil is a very knowledgeable and respected collector of rowing memorabilia from all over the world. His extensive collection includes material from many years of the Oxford and Cambridge University Boat Race, and Henley Royal Regatta. He also lectures and writes on rowing history and is a Trustee of the River and Rowing Museum.
