Description
A bronze rowing medal manufactured by Arthus Bertrand of Paris c1998.

The obverse shows a closeup starboard perspective of a single sculler, with a turn of the 19th century mien, approaching the top of his slide as he passes a small buoy with a flag and a team boat in the background - signed B. Lavee, Bertrand Edit along the bottom. The reverse shows sprigs surrounding a small blank scroll.

Part of the Thomas E. Weil Collection. Thomas E. Weil is a very knowledgeable and respected collector of rowing memorabilia from all over the world. His extensive collection includes material from many years of the Oxford and Cambridge University Boat Race, and Henley Royal Regatta. He also lectures and writes on rowing history and is a Trustee of the River and Rowing Museum.
