A black and white photograph taken in the Abbey Gardens of Abingdon Abbey of an artificial ruin constructed of fragments from the site where the church once stood, showing stone pillars and arches.

The photograph is part of a series of photographs known collectively as 'River Journey' which were commissioned by the Museum for its Thames Gallery's permanent display.

The photographer Jaap Oepkes works near the Thames in London and in 1998 spent two months travelling on the Thames, documenting leisure and work for this series of photographs.
