Page 215 of the Chronicle describes a race held on the 8th September 1788 between two eight-oared cutters, the Chatham and the Invincible, from Westminster Bridge to Richmond for a wager of fifty guineas. Chatham won by driving the Invincivble ashore.

His extensive collection includes material from many years of the Oxford and Cambridge University Boat Race, and Henley Royal Regatta.
