A patent certificate issued to Edmund Norris, oar and scull manufacturer of Putney. Edmund Norris invented the tubular oar 'An improvement in the construction, formation and manufacture of the looms of oars and sculls'. Dated 22nd September 1906.
His improvement was to construct the loom of the oar with a hollow centre, making oars and sculls lighter and more rigid.
