Thomas Cox (donor's great grandfather) was a gardener at The Hythe in Staines and a member of Staines Boat Club, established in 1851. Unfortunately there is no record of the event for which he may have won his two rowing trophies (2006.33.1 and 2) as the early club archives were destroyed by fire in 1950.
