Description
'Frenchman who rowed across the Channel'

An article published in The Graphic, Thursday 3 August 1911. Charles Ovrom, rowed across the Channel from Boulogne to Folkstone in a light outrigger skiff. He started at 10.30am and reached Folkestone between 5-6pm.

Gifted by Thomas E. Weil to the American Friends of the River & Rowing Museum in honour of the years of dedicated service given by Paul Mainds to the River & Rowing Museum.

Thomas E. Weil is a very knowledgeable and respected collector of rowing memorabilia from all over the world. His extensive collection includes material from many years of the Oxford and Cambridge University Boat Race, and Henley Royal Regatta. He also lectures and writes on rowing history and is a Trustee of the River and Rowing Museum.
