Description
Notebook of George D Rowe, President of the Oxford University Boat Club in 1880. The book records Rowe's daily thoughts, and descriptions of the crew's training, up until their victory in the boat race of 1880.

The early part of the book contains listings of the crew(s) and their individual weights. Beneath this are a couple of paragraphs, giving details on the day's training and points on the style of the crew and its members. Each day's training for each crew takes up one page of the notebook. This part of the book ends with a description of the crew's victory in the boat race itself, on Monday March 22 1880. Following this are brief descriptions of crews in subsequent boat races up until 1930. The notes on races from 1922-1930 are contained on two loose sheets of paper. The book is accompanied by an explanatory note from GD Rowe's son (Anthony?) dated 25.3.1958.

The notebook has soft, mulitcoloured covers with black binding. The pages are handwritten in black ink which is fading in places. The whole book is rather tattered and comes complete with 3 loose papers.
