PETER HAINING MBE, sculler, oarsman and coach
Peter Haining, of Loch Lomond won the world lightweight single sculls three times consecutively from 1993-95 during his 16 appearances for GB from 1985-2001 ( including the 1992 and 1996Olympic Games).
Represneting London RC, Nottinghamshire County RA and Auriol Kensington clubs, he won world silver medals in lightweight fours in 1986 and 1987 and the lightweight pair with Nick ???? in 2000. He won a bronze with the 1990 lightweight eight, and was a member of the Notts County lightweight eight who won the Ladies' Plate at Henley in a re-row against Harvard's heavyweight Varsity in 1989, setting a Henley record in the first race and another in the re-row.
Since retiring from competition, Haining has coached at Upper Thames and Oxford Brookes University (until 2007).
