ROBERT RIVINGTON, punter, publisher, bookseller
Robert Rivington wrote definitive books on puinting, its history and techniques, in the 1980s, and was deeply knowledgeable about punting, rowing, skiffing, Cornish gig racing, dongolas and messing about in boats. From a publishing family - his grandfather and father were both into sailing and other small boats - he became an antiquarian bookseller in Oxford, and was a familiar figure about the city as well as on the Isis and further afield at regattas.
